Look up in the sky — it’s not just a bird or a plane this time. It’s a brand-new vision of Superman. Warner Bros has officially released Trailer #2 for James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman movie, and it’s everything fans have been hoping for: bold, heartfelt, and brimming with meaning.
Formerly titled Superman: Legacy, this reboot takes a fresh, character-driven approach to the most iconic superhero of all time. Directed and written by James Gunn, known for balancing humor and heart in projects like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, this new Superman aims to ground the character in a way that feels both classic and current. Leading the charge as Clark Kent / Superman is David Corenswet, a rising star familiar from We Own This City and the upcoming Twisters.
From the opening moments of Trailer #2, the tone is clear — this is a Superman story deeply rooted in emotion, identity, and purpose. Clark is seen navigating the duality of his life: being raised as a humble farm boy in Kansas while slowly embracing the responsibilities that come with being the “Last Son of Krypton.” There’s a calm but powerful undercurrent in Corenswet’s performance. He’s not here to play the larger-than-life alien — he’s here to save the day, even when the world doesn’t know how to accept that.
One of the most compelling things about this new interpretation is the central tension: Superman wants to help, plain and simple, but the people around him — governments, corporations, individuals with power — all want to dictate how he helps. In a world full of gray areas and manipulation, his sincerity becomes his greatest strength and weakness. As one viewer put it, “I somehow felt Superman’s intention is to simply just save the day, and yet the people around him are against it because they wanted to dictate his actions for their own agenda. Finally, a relatable version where I can simply say he’s just an old boy scout.”
The ensemble cast is equally stacked, with Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) delivering a no-nonsense Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult taking on a calculating and chilling Lex Luthor. The trailer also gives us glimpses of fan-favorite characters like Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and several others including Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, Isabela Merced, and Alan Tudyk in mystery roles that are already generating buzz.
The visual tone feels just right — bright and hopeful but never cartoonish. We get shots of the Fortress of Solitude, Superman taking flight over Metropolis, and intense confrontations with both enemies and allies. There’s a sense of cinematic grandeur that DC fans have been craving, but paired with a humanity that makes it all resonate.
James Gunn is clearly bringing his signature balance of wit and emotional depth to the project. While there are a few light touches and snappy dialogue moments, the trailer never leans too heavily into comedy. Instead, it walks a fine line — reminding us that Superman doesn’t have to be edgy or brooding to be relevant. He just needs to care — and that’s something this version wears proudly.

As we count down to the film’s release this summer, the excitement is palpable. This trailer confirms that Superman isn’t just another superhero flick — it’s a hopeful, modern myth that respects its roots. If Trailer #2 is any indication, we might be in for a Superman story that speaks to our current world without losing the timeless spirit that made us believe a man could fly.
