The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) just dropped a bombshell, and I am absolutely losing it. After months of speculation, Marvel Studios finally revealed the official cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, and let me tell you—it was both exhilarating and frustrating. The announcement was stretched into a five-and-a-half-hour video (yes, you read that right), featuring nothing but a slow reveal of chairs. Was it tedious? Absolutely. But was it also one of the most brilliant marketing moves Marvel has ever pulled? Without a doubt.

Marvel’s Slow Burn Announcement on Doomsday

As expected, the cast list is enormous, featuring a mix of returning fan favorites and some unexpected additions. But here’s the kicker—some of the biggest names in the MCU are nowhere to be found. And that’s where things get interesting.

Fans were quick to spot several notable absences, and these omissions have sparked a wave of speculation. Are these characters being held back for a surprise reveal? Or are some actors simply not returning to the MCU anytime soon? Let’s break down the most shocking names missing from the list.

5. Hugh Jackman – Where’s Wolverine?

Considering how many X-Men alumni are confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, it’s bizarre that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is missing. After all, Deadpool & Wolverine firmly established him in the multiversal madness that the MCU is diving into. If there’s any mutant who should be involved in a story of this scale, it’s Logan. Could this mean he’s being saved for Avengers: Secret Wars? Or is this a classic case of Marvel playing mind games with us?

4. Mark Ruffalo – No Hulk Smash?

Bruce Banner hasn’t had a major moment in the MCU since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and his last big-screen appearance was a short cameo in Shang-Chi. With Hulk being one of the OG Avengers, it’s odd that he’s not included. He’s still alive, still brilliant, and you’d think a multiverse-threatening disaster would be enough to bring him back into action. So where is he?

3. Ryan Reynolds – No Deadpool Cameo?

Deadpool made his grand entrance into the MCU with Deadpool & Wolverine, but his absence from Avengers: Doomsday is raising eyebrows. Given that the film includes several Fox-era X-Men characters, it feels strange that Wade Wilson isn’t tagging along. Then again, this could be another situation where Marvel is keeping him under wraps until Secret Wars.

2. Charlie Cox – Daredevil Stays on the Streets

Daredevil has been making a strong comeback, with Daredevil: Born Again being one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects. That said, it seems Matt Murdock isn’t getting an invite to Avengers: Doomsday. Sure, he’s more of a street-level hero, but given the sheer scale of this movie, you’d think the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen would at least get a moment to shine.

1. Tom Holland – No Spider-Man? Seriously?

This is by far the most baffling omission. Peter Parker played a crucial role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and after everything he’s been through, you’d think he’d be front and center in Doomsday. With his deep connection to Tony Stark, the lack of Spidey in the cast list is, quite frankly, shocking. There’s still hope he’ll be a late addition, but as of now, the silence around his involvement is deafening.

What Does This Mean for Avengers: Doomsday?

Admittedly, I have a hard time believing this is the full cast list. Marvel has a history of keeping surprises under wraps (remember how Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were “definitely not” in No Way Home?). It wouldn’t be shocking if some of these missing heroes show up unexpectedly.

Also, some characters just don’t fit in right now. War Machine is still dealing with the fallout of being replaced by a Skrull, and Scarlet Witch is… well, presumed dead. But Spider-Man? Wolverine? Hulk? Their absence feels too strange to ignore. Regardless, Marvel’s five-hour chair reveal worked. It was slow, it was ridiculous, and it was pure marketing genius. And now, we wait—because if history has taught us anything, it’s that Marvel still has plenty of surprises up its sleeve.
