The gaming community is abuzz with excitement as new leaks about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 have surfaced. At the recent CES 2025 in Las Vegas, accessory manufacturer Genki showcased a detailed mockup of the upcoming console, providing enthusiasts with a glimpse into its potential design and features.

Genki’s display highlighted several notable aspects of the Switch 2.

The console appears to maintain the hybrid handheld design that made its predecessor popular, but with significant enhancements. One of the standout features is the introduction of magnetic Joy-Con controllers, which attach seamlessly to the console’s sides. This magnetic attachment could offer a more secure and user-friendly experience compared to the original slide-in mechanism.

Additionally, the new Joy-Cons are rumored to include an optical sensor, sparking speculation about potential motion control improvements or new gameplay mechanics. A mysterious “C” button was also observed on the right Joy-Con, though its function remains undisclosed, leaving fans eager for more information.

The mockup suggests that the Switch 2 will feature a larger 8-inch LCD screen, providing gamers with a more immersive visual experience. To keep costs manageable, Nintendo has reportedly opted for an LCD display instead of OLED technology. The console is expected to be backward-compatible with existing Switch games, allowing players to enjoy their current library without interruption.

In terms of performance, the Switch 2 is anticipated to deliver capabilities comparable to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with potential support for Nvidia’s DLSS and ray tracing technologies. This would mark a significant upgrade, enabling higher-quality graphics and smoother gameplay.

While Nintendo has not officially announced the Switch 2, the company has confirmed plans to reveal details about its next-generation console before the end of its current fiscal year, which concludes in March 2025. Accessory makers, including Genki, have hinted at an April launch, aligning with Nintendo’s timeline and suggesting that the console could be available to consumers shortly after its official unveiling.
